Don't steal my stuff!!!
Posted by Luggage Hub on
We all know that travelling to certain cities around the world carries with it a likely-hood of getting a bag or some of the contents of your bag stolen. But in reality it can happen anywhere and at any time. Walking around the city you live in doesn't mean you're immune to pickpockets. Let's look at some ways to keep your belongings as safe as possible, and check out some incredible products to make stealing from you close to, if not impossible. Ready? Lets start...
What a bummer: Stealing out of your back pocket is as easy as 123... To keep your wallet, phone or valuables safe, keep them in your front pocket as it's much harder to steal from there.
Stop, look and listen: Be aware of your surroundings. This may seem like a no brainer but being aware of the possibility of being targeted by pickpockets or muggers is not just about keeping your valuables close to you. Be aware of people around you as well as your surroundings. Dark areas of buildings, parks and public transport are only some of the places you should be extra vigilant. Keep your ears as well as your eyes open and take stock of what's going on around you.
Waist or neck?: Wearing a money belt around your waist or a passport pouch around your neck is a great way to deter would be thieves from stealing from you. Inexpensive and with a variety of features, they are a great alternative to carrying your wallet or bag around with you.
Copy, copy, copy: In the event the worst does happen and your bag gets stolen, have piece of mind knowing you have photocopied your credit card, passport and travel documentation and left (either emailed or physically left) with a family member or a trusted friend. This will ensure you are able to retrieve important documentation so temporary ones can be made for you.
Scanned then scammed: Radio Frequency Identification (or RFID for short) is a term used more and more in travel these days. Passports and credit cards have chips in them for easy and convenient scanning, and within them hold all the relevant information about yourself for that particular item/service. Criminals can use RFID scanners to scan your credit card or passport chip information without you knowing (can scan up to around 1 metre away). This in turn can be used to produce false identities and you'd be non the wiser until it's too late. Protect your information with a huge range of RFID protection products that block scanners from stealing your details (see products listed below).
Cut and run: Cutting through straps to snatch your bag, or slicing through material so your valuables fall out and can then be stolen, is a technique used in some of the worlds biggest tourist hot spots. Make it next to impossible with a huge variety of Anti-theft bags and backpacks. Not only are they all slash proof (making it impossible to cut through material) they also have the added benefit of having zips that are also lockable so thieving hands cant get in when your not paying attention (see products listed below).
